Alpine Valleys

Alpine Valley

Breathtaking landscapes, premium cool climate wines, colourful food culture and striking seasonal contrasts distinguish the Alpine Valleys region.

Stretching from the snowfields of Falls Creek, Mt Buffalo and Hotham, along the Kiewa and Ovens Rivers, the Alpine Valleys' vibrant townships of Bright, Myrtleford and Mt. Beauty, as well as the extensive stretches of National Parks ensure a myriad of opportunities for travellers and adventurers. The Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail is a delightful way for cyclists and walkers to enjoy the Valleys.

Post war Italian settlement brought chestnuts, tobacco and the seeds of a dynamic food culture to the region. Today this Victorian Wine Region's continental climate supports a huge range of agricultural enterprises from deer, trout and berry farms to nut groves, apple orchards and asparagus. Eating places abound from cosy cafes to truly sophisticated restaurants.

The long, moderate growing conditions produce high quality grapes with intense fruit flavours and natural acidity

The trail of friendly Cellar Doors allows visitors to experience the deep, seamless reds and crisp elegant whites; fine wine goes so well with gourmet food, the perfect wine weekend.

From the kaleidoscopic colours of autumn, the tender green tips of spring to the white winter peaks and blue skies of summer; the Alpine Valleys region is an expression of colour, vibrancy and flavour.
