Hume and Hovell passed through the Yackandandah valleys in 1824, not long before the area was first settled in about 1837. Today, the town retains a wealth of its Victorian architecture, and picturesque tree-lined streets. Visit Yackandandah and you will find a treasure trove of antiques shops and bric-a-brac. There are teahouses and specialty stores which offer country collectables, old wares, local pottery and high quality hand made timber items. Yackandandah; a quaint, historic village where gold was discovered in the late 1850s.
